Gerald Okamura was born in Hilo, Hawaii and started his martial arts training at the age of 12. He began his San Soo training over 25 years ago under the guidance of Jimmy H. Woo, the heir to a system which originated in a Shaolin monastery and has been passed down from father to son for over five generations. Sensei Okamura is a 5th degree black belt and has also trained in the arts of judo, kendo, and Tae Kwon Do.
