Sakura brand hardwood 48 inch by 1 inch staff, stick, Jo / Hanbo / Bo. Sakura Jo are used by experts in Jodo, Jojutsu, Aikido, Goshin Jutsu, Jujutsu, Kobudo and more. Select cuts of quality northern hardwood are chosen from Northeastern USA and Canada. Though not as heavy or as expensive as red or white oak, this wood is known and preferred for its lighter weight, excellent durability, and strength. It has exceptional turning properties, a fine, even texture, and a natural luster. Paints and finishes very well. Color ranges from cream white to light reddish brown. Some typical uses for this wood include furniture, flooring, and industrial parts. Each Sakura Jo / staff is hand sanded and inspected by master wood crafters at the mill.
