| Sakura brand red oak hardwood 48 inch by 1 inch staff, stick, Jo / Hanbo / Bo. Sakura Jo are used by experts in Jodo, Jojutsu, Aikido, Goshin Jutsu, Jujutsu, Kobudo, Muso Shinden Ryu, and more. Select cuts of quality red oak hardwood are chosen from eastern / midwestern U.S. and Canada. The wood is hard and heavy, with great bending strength and stiffness and high crushing strength. Red oak is known for great wear-resistance. It has exceptional turning properties. The wood is mostly straight-grained, with a somewhat coarse natural texture. Red oak machines well and it can be stained to a good finish. It can be stained with a wide range of finish tones. Color ranges from white to light brown in an unfinished state. Some typical uses for this wood include furniture, flooring, and industrial parts. Each Sakura Jo / staff is hand sanded and inspected by master wood crafters at the mill. The edges are beveled to professional specifications for smooth transitions and the striking surface is left natural for optimal handling without sticking.
