Piece is a single forged unit. Lighter weight stainless as opposed to iron filler, these weigh less than the practice ones I've used, but do not bend as easily. The steel has a good ring, keeping a tone after they are struck. The handle wrap is cheaper covering, and has a piece of clear tape at the top, whose sticky smeared and made a small mess on the handle.
