Hold the Sai in the traditional grip shown.

The tip should extend not just past the elbow but also past the triceps about 1 inch.

Sai length is determined by the measurement from the tip of the index finger to the point past the triceps.

Good for practice. I have to admit I have seen rubber practice knives and such, and expected this to have less give. It flops around quite a bit, and wont hold straight even just being held out. On the plus side, it will never leave a bruise.
