I am in total agreement with the previous reviewer. Training with this bokuto makes such a difference. Without any doubt this bokuto is a trainer in itself, clearly improving the technique of beginner students. Many of out more advanced students as well found out that their technique was not as good as they have thought. They have been training with aluminum iaito for some time, but the iaito is more resilient to bending while the bokuto will get stuck during a draw or will even break if the technique were really bad. All of our students have to use one of these bokuto for certain techniques during their rank test, regardless of their current rank. Students display clear improvements when they train alternatively with this bokuto and the traditional bokuto.

I have been studying martial disciplines for more than 20 years of which the last 9 years in Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu. The Bokuto with saya is one of the best training tools I have used. This bokuto has a thinner but not flimsy blade. The overall dimensions of the saya resemble a real one. The bokuto is intended for solo use, not for hard contact. The blade profile in combination with the saya tremendously helps in developing and maintaining proper nukitsuke and noto. Beginner students will have to work slower allowing them to develop proper techniques. All students should use this bokuto before transitioning to a regular bokuto. Advanced students can use this bokuto to further refine their skills. In many instances this bokuto gives a better feedback than an iaito or shinken. Without any exaggeration, two to three weeks of training with this bokuto make up for months of training with a regular bokuto.
I highly recommend this bokuto to both beginners and advanced students.
