This high quality heavy katana is specifically designed for intense cutting. Its design incorporates the geometry, strength, weight and profile needed by serious practitioners. The sharpened 29 1/4 inch blade is differentially tempered (HRC60 edge, HRC40 back) with a genuine wave hamon. The 12 1/4 inch handle features genuine rayskin with tightly woven cotton wrap, a long tang, and double mekugi for security. The fuchi and kashira feature a family emblem motif. The authentic iron tsuba features a wave design that represents museum-preserved originals and compliments the hamon and brass habaki, while the menuki represent the traditional Japanese Sakura (cherry blossom) flower. The wooden ebony pebble-finished scabbard features a longer retaining cord. Measures 41 3/4 inches overall.
